The guy in the pic does look “masculine” according to some standards, but I know plenty who would still consider him to be a dandy. As for your comment “no homo,” how do you know? Did you confirm that with him or see him with his female spouse? If that comment is due to you feeling that he is too masculine to be gay, then you should really rethink your definition of masculinity. I have gay friends that are more butch than some of my straight guy friends. Just a thought.

I believe he used the phrase “no homo” for its urban slang connotation; i.e. “I just said something that sounds like I might be gay, but I assure you that I am not.” The phrase has always had homophobic undertones, and runs the risk of offending the numerous gay men who are most assuredly following this blog. The better way to have addressed the situation would have been to re-word the caption so that it did not “sound gay”. May I recommend: ‘Unbuttoning several shirt buttons – a daring and successful look’ or something along those lines.

Thanks Erich! I’m not trying to go all civil rights on a clothing blog, but racial, sexist, and other lingo just bother me. I have straight and gay friends. And I have to honestly say my gay friends get a lot of flack, both intentionally and unintentionally.
